Workshop Sessions

Cornwall Youth Theatre Company season runs from September to March. We start with workshop sessions which include stage-combat and acting skills sessions before embarking on rehearsals for the shows which tour in March. We have a three week break over Christmas, but otherwise members need to show up every Sunday morning.

Touring Cornwall

Typically, we tour a show to five venues in Cornwall over a two week period during March. Actors assist with the “get-in” and “get-out” at each venue where we unload the set, lights and sound gear, then pack up after the performance and load it all back into the van before leaving. Members have to make their own way to each show. Last season we toured to four venues – in Newquay, St Austell, Grampound and Penzance. We are the only touring youth theatre in Cornwall and we believe the experience is incredibly useful for those thinking of entering a touring company at a later stage. It’s also lots of fun setting everything up, seeing the backstage areas and performing in different venues.

Subscriptions

Subscriptions are set at £80 for the entire season and are paid in advance. We’d like to thank Penlee Park Open Air Theatre who subsidise Cornwall Youth Theatre Company, allowing us to keep the subscriptions low. Bursaries are also available for young people from low-income families.

Members must be between 12 and 22 years old.
